"Rasengan" is where you concentrate chakra into the palm of your hand while rotating it into a spherical shape. Through the use of himself and a Kagebunshin he gathers lots of chakra to form a "Oodama Rasengan". In Sennin mode Jiraiya uses "Natural chakra" to be able to rapidly increase the size of it. Inside the giant ball of light is a twirling vortex, that if it explodes, would easily take a chunk out of an entire mountain.
